Dinner at the Markus Altenburger winery by chefs from the Alma Prague restaurant.

We are proud to announce that our winery is hosting Prague’s leading modern restaurant for a unique night of dining among our barrels that hold not only Blaufraenkisch!

It’s one of the Karakterre stories… An energetic cooperation and a special Friendship were formed at the Karakterre 11 afterparty between Markus and two of the founders of the ALMA project Jan and Vojta. Honza Čulík and Vojta Václavík met Markus at an after-party in the great Neusiedler pub after Karakterre three years ago. The conversation was as follows: Vojta: We are soon opening the restaurant Alma in Prague and also the distribution of Alma Wines. Markus answered: I have a winery and my daughter’s name is Alma. Honza Čulík: Then we should work together!

Markus’ excellent Frankovka (= Blaufränkisch), mineral Chardonnay and light orange Ois Erleben quickly caught on in Prague. We don’t know if it is rather a friendship or a work relationship, but it doesn’t matter now, both are working.

WHAT: A multi-course shared dinner filled with great wine from Markus.

WHERE: Weingut Markus Altenburger, Untere Hauptstraße 62,

Parking: Rear side of the Winery: A. Stroblweg 70, 7093 Jois.

WHEN: Wednesday, May 22nd, 19:00 (Please show up around 18:30 for Apero and smooth start).

HOW: Long tables, live music , creative dishes prepared directly in the winery from seasonal ingredients with a clear origin. Markus and Bernadette will draw from the fullest of their cellar and pour a selection of 10 wines including some of their rarest in Zalto Glasses. Chefs: Petr Žídek (head chef of Alma Prague), Michal Daněk (head chef of Alma Prague), Vojta Vaclavik (chef, co-owner Alma Prague).

Tartlet with stracciatella cheese, grilled pea, green strawberry, nasturtium flowers

Beef tartare compressed rhubarb with japanese knotweed, chilli mayo, crispy salad leaves

Potatoes gratin, chive mayo, wild garlic capers,

Deep fried pig head, mustard from wild radish, kohlrabi slaw, apple gel,

Deep fried courgette flower, filled with mountain cheese, mayo from fermented onion, buttermilk

Grilled whole trout, wild garlic beurre blanc sauce
*
Grilled beef brisket, spring onion, sauce with black garlic
*
Artichokes in bariqoule, anchovy mayo, lemon sourdough bread crumble,
*
Burnt kohlrabi with kohlrabi juice, chervil pesto, deep fried sour cabbage
*
Grilled radishes, ranch dressing, divoké bylinky
*
Grilled asparagus, hollandaise with burnt butter, amaranth
*
Butterhead lettuce, utopia dressing
*
Cherry ice cream with bay leaf powder
*
Pressed strawberries with sugar, tarragon oil, sorrel, green pepper
*
Farm cheese, rhubarb chutney
