Finally - the Leithaberg arrived!

 In Weine

Dear friends of the good taste,

long expected, now he arrived and is available at once: Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC 2015. We had to endure a especially long time of waiting, as there was due to a severe hailstorm no 2014 vintage.

Markus Altenburger Leithaberg 2015

2015 has the potential to become a great red-wine vintage in the Burgenland. In 2016 the weather was fine and we had a good harvest. Because of a very hot and dry autumn, we started to harvest earlier, to minimize the risk of too much sugar in our grapes. By doing this we avoided too high alcohol contents and overripe flavours and got a good, fresh wine.

Fermented in open wood-tubs, structure was added by the maturation in 500 liter and 2000 liter barrels. The 2015 is a Cuvée from 5 different local appelations. Of course with a hint of slate.

This year we added a distinctive design element. The capsule shows a blueprint-design in reminiscence of our parents and grandparents, whose working clothes typically showed this colour of blue. If  you are interested in this technique, please have a look at
